(Home) Missing engine belt

Not owning my Toyota Townace long, not having a manual yet, and being a through and through motorcyclist anyway, I was attempting a simple service, oil and filter change, radiator top up etc. leaning in through the passenger door, I noticed the largest flywheel nearest to me had lost it's belt. No warning signs on the dash at all. Question, what is it's function ?
Where can I get a replacement, In fact, where can I get the whole compliment of replacement belts, including the cam belt ? - (#85) Kevin Savage, 29 Apr 01

that belt should be for the air con compressor, so it is optional. This and other belts are available from your nearest motor factors- they work best from a sample if you have it, the air con belt is listed for liteace applications, though.

I have had no problems getting all parts from my local Toyota dealer. Some dealers don't carry the info on their computer systems, but about half do.
As my local dealer said. It's made by Toyota so why not supply parts. Most parts so far have either been in stock, or delivered next day from their warehouse up north.
Only one part was not in the UK and that was sourced from Toyota Germany.
The dealer tells me that they often have to source parts from Japan for brand new models, so nothing sould be a problem, except for accessories - you can only get these second hand, as, for some reason, Toyota will not release accessories from Japan. - (#106) skippy, 5 May 01
