(Home) Drinking fuel (Spa)

any one got idea why my 2litre petrol model f is drinking fuel..when you pull away it seems to be sluging and in low revs you can tell its kiking back.but when you kick foot down or when acel fast it runs ok..what is miles per gallon on this model..mines doing about 15....is it carb troubles or anything else....twin choke carb type - (#88) granty 32, 29 Apr 01

I used to have a Model F but one of the earlier ones (1982 vintage) with an 1800 engine. I used to get 17mpg urban and up to 27 on a run. One of the reasons I got shut. I was led to believe that the later 2litre models were more frugal than this as the 1800 model always seemed underpowered. From your earlier e-mails I gather you have just acquired the vehicle so I would recommend a full service/tune up. Check your plugs, points, timing and carb mixture and balance. Also check your brakes are ok and not binding. Then come and tell us what fuel consumption you are getting. - (#91) Ian Dunse, 30 Apr 01
