(Home) Airfilter pipe & timing adjustment (Spa)

the carb is the twin choke type.....i can not see the model no....the pipe iam concerned about goes to the top of the air filter then down to the diaphrame that is on the air filter the one that opens and closes to let air in when you start up..also where do u adjust the distrib my motor seems to be pinking a bit on high revs - (#104) granty, 4 May 01

Not sure about pipes going to air-cleaner. Nothing in manual. Is it not obvious from where they can/cannot go? Someone with a Spacecruiser care to chip in here?
As for pinking. It doesn't look as though there is an adjustable vernier on the distributer for the Spacecruiser. You will need to loosen the bolt holding the distrubuter body and turn it slightly. Assuming the engine is NOT a 4Y-E, the timing should be 8 degrees BTDC @ 850 rpm max with vacuum advancer sub-diaphragm tube off and blocked. May be worth checking dwell also, should be 52 +/- 6 degrees @ idling.
