(Home) Coolant leak under driver's seat

Having now solved the problem of the orange dashboard light (many thanks), my Townie has now emptied the contents of the radiator all over the drive. First signs were a dripping from underneath the car below the drivers seat. but alas, now water is coming from a little "box" under the car just behind the drivers seat. There is another pipe coming out of this box but not water, that is coming out of the vents!!!can anyone help?? I would look but can't see how to get under the drivers seat to do so?? - (#158) Bob Amabile, 19 May 01

Can't help with the water but just behind the drivers seat the floor trim should come up and there are a couple of butterfly nuts which hold a cover in place. This will let you look under the drivers seat. - (#159) Russ, 19 May 01

Bob, that's the matrix for the rear heater. Just connect a bridge of hose between the two pipes going towards it. Then you can dismantle and get it repaired or recored at your leisure.

Found the problem. there is what looks like a radiator expansion box under the car behind the drivers side front wheel. After filling the Rad with water, and running the engine for about 10 mins, this box starts to warm up. the leak is from the join in the box, a little clip is missing and as the water heats the box it expands then leaks simple eh!!
Any ideas where i can get a new clip?? - (#163) Bob Amabile, 20 May 01
