Q, "Dad (3 kids + dog)can you build a table between the middle and back seats for us"?
A, "Yes I can proberly sort somthing out"
Q, "Has anyone already done this and if so please can I grib your design? - (#193) John Hardman, 24 May 01

John
You're getting into camper territory now. I've toyed (think there might be a pun in there somewhere) with the idea myself but thought it too much hassle. I believe there is such an option on the Mk2 Townace but not positive. I would think, realistically you have two options.
1. Fit a recess for a pole in the floor (standard kit from most major camping/caravanning stores, comes as a pole, one concave female joint for floor, one convex female joint for underside of table) and make your own table top to suit. This may be a problem because you would need to cut a recess into the floor of the van.
2. Have a mooch around same caravan stores or DIY sheds for a folding table to suit.
Alternatively, take the easy way out like me, say it cannot be done for technical reasons (usually works) and get the kids to eat off of their laps. Yes they get crumbs everywhere, but if you have a dog like mine, he soon "hoovers" the place up afterwards.

Thankyou Ian I will have a look round as suggested. The table is mainly for games etc on holidays / long journeys as I can not afford to fit plasmer TV screens for their Nintendo Yet. - (#215) John Hardman, 26 May 01

I had a similar problem....
My Mother-in-law has difficulty getting in the side door so I purchased a plastic step made by Addis, the people who make washing up bowls etc. Unfortunately I could only find it in blue.
I drilled a hole in one side near the top. I then cut a piece of rope long enough to allow a loop in one end of the rope and fit over the passengers head rest and the other to pass through the hole I drilled when the step was placed on the ground by the side door with a knot on the other end.
This means that my Mother-in-law can place the step on the ground and pull it up behind her. It stores neatly on top of the engine between the driver and passenger seats creating a small table. It can also be used for a small table in the back.
Hope you find this useful.

Hello,
I am a fairly new owner and I had this request also. I like to think that the table which I made is just the job. Have you got curtains, with a non energised lower guide rail? If you have, and would like to see my efforts, I can send you some pictures.
