(Home) Radiator removal

Please help!
I need to change the main radiator on my 2.0TD townie and after a weekend of head scratching, swearing and chewed finger nails I cannot see how the ble###ng thing comes out,can anybody en-lighten me with the correct procedure and maybe with any short-cuts to save any un-needed work.
Any advice greatly appreciated. - (#271) Pete Bennett, 5 Jun 01

Drivers seat and floor out
fan and shroud out
Disconnect hoses ( inc 2 in front of rad if 4x4)
one bolt on top, two underneath
After that yes, it will come out, but much twisting and levering of aircon and steering pipes is needed...

Thanks for the info David, Will be looking at the job again this weekend.
You state that the driver's seat and floor pan have to come out, never seen under the driver seat yet so have i got any nasty surprises awaiting me and does all the gear lever and handbrake come away with this floor pan?
Mine is a 4x4 model, does this make the job any harder?
Again, many thanks for info so far. - (#281) Pete Bennett, 6 Jun 01

There's a ring of bolts around the floor panel, andthe handbrake and gear levers can stay on it- just disconnect the cables and wiring.
4x4? same as mine then. Nit harder, it's just tight to squeeze the rad in or out because the front diff gets in the way a little...
