(Home) Green light

Any idea what the large green light is for on the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel?
Some times this comes on during a journey, so what does it mean? - (#389) Ray, 30 Jun 01

If it's a green square shaped light, I believe it is to illuminate the ignition switch to assist you in the dark. Mine stays on for about 5 seconds after the drivers door is closed. - (#390) MAC, 1 Jul 01

If it comes on when driving, does the interior light or door warning light come on at the same time? - (#392) David Miller, 1 Jul 01

Ok, I can confirm that we are discussing the same green light.
I can also confirm that it comes on when the drivers door is opened and goes off about 5 seconds after it has been closed.
However, it does still come on momentarily (duration varies) at ad-hoc times during some journeys. It did it again several times tonight while driving with the main lights on. I'm not sure if this has happened with the main lights off.
No interior lights flicker nor does the warning light flicker.
I wondered if it had something to do with the Charge/Discharge state of the battery? - (#408) Ray, 2 Jul 01

There is a relay behind the instrument panel to control that, it might have been altered or bypassed during the import conversion process. It's called the "light control relay" AFAIK.
Look for new wiring behind the dash in general, make sure it's all insulated and secure... - (#412) David Miller, 3 Jul 01
