(Home) Want to add an external audible reverse horn

Yes I know its sad not only do I already have one in the car but now I want one outside the car. This is due mainly because for some unknown reason pedestrians don't seem to notice the car moving backwards nor do the seem to notice the lights. I have checked and they do work.
Can someone tell me what colour the wires are for the reversing lights and can I add the unit to the front by the fuse box rather than having to strip the whole wiring loom out at the back. - (#501) Russ, 11 Jul 01

Just buy a small buzzer or piezo sounder from Maplin or Tandy and scotchlock it onto the wires in the tailgate. The vents unclip for access to the lamps. - (#507) David Miller, 11 Jul 01

Alternatively, I believe single tone air-horns are still legal so fix one of those under the rear bumper, that should make the old dears shift in a hurry!

CPC Components, Preston, list a "Car Reverse Light-Bulb Alarm" (part no CP01489) at £7.20 + VAT (trade price). This simply replaces the reverse light bulb! - How hard can that be!? CPC's telephone number is 01772-654455 but I'm not sure if they will sell directly to the public. If you require one and have difficulty obtaining one, e-mail me directly for info as I have a Trade Account with them. Hope this info is of help! - (#747) Frank Newall, 4 Aug 01
