(Home) Front suspension, ride height

Hello,
As a relatively new owner, I find this site a Godsend and have already found answers to many queries. However, can someone advise, are all the range, ie, Townace, Masterace etc, fitted with torsion bar front suspension ? To try to improve the "ride" on mine I have replaced the front shocks (Tems type) and there is some improvement but, is it advisable to play around with the adjustable mountings for the torsion bars ? There is a screwed/locknutted lever, on the torsion bar mounting, which I am tempted to adjust as I feel that the front suspension "bottoms" against the stop rubber, too easily. Any advice/comments would be much appreciated.

i noticed mine has a habit of 'bottoming' while going over speed humps too , i just put it down to the cab over the front wheels configuration which always gives a bouncy ride - (#538) J Adgo, 14 Jul 01

2wd or 4wd? The ride height is adjustable, and the settings are listed in the Chiltons manual for the american version. Of which my copy is holidaying with Ken Caladine... I think he's back next week, I'll get ride height specs then for you.

John et al, ride height is measured to the centre of the lower wishbone/ control arm pivot bolt, and the factory setting is 262mm (2wd), or 252mm(4x4). - (#574) David Miller, 18 Jul 01
