(Home) Head bolt torque /workshop manual (Spa)

A friend is helping me change the head gasket on my petrol Model F (D-reg). As I can't get a Haynes manual for it, could a kind soul let me have the head bolt torque settings?
Also, what are the recommendations for a good manual?
TIA,
Doug. - (#539) Doug Smith, 14 Jul 01

What engine do you have? 3/4Y? and is it carb or EFI?
The Chiltons manual covers 3&4Y efi engines, mechanically I'm sure they're the same.
I can get torque settings next week for you. - (#543) David Miller, 14 Jul 01

Hi Doug,
excuse the limitations of drawing diagram. If it doesn't make sense, email me direct. Tighten the 13 bolts in several passes in the sequence:
13 12 11
----------------
Front <-- |8 6 1 3 9 |
|10 4 2 5 7 |
----------------
Torque settings:
14 mm head bolts = 65 ft-lb, 88N.m
12 mm head bolts = 14 ft-lb, 19N.m
All models.
Good luck

Sorry that's not come out as it should. I'll try and describe it:
Looking down on the engine with the front to your left, there are 3 rows of bolts in the formation 3,5,5. Top row first and left to right:

Row 1 is 13, 12, 11
Row 2 is 8,6,1,3,9
Row 3 is 10,4,2,5,7

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your help.
It is a 3Y carb engine. I shall try for a Chiltons manual.
Unfortunately, it looks as if I need a replacement engine. The old one was rather cooked! :-( - (#628) Doug Smith, 23 Jul 01
