(Home) Paint colour matching

Being new to Townace's and just getting used to how long they are for parking etc, both my wife and I have scraped the rear wheel arches. My Townace colour is Grey 195, I phoned Automotive Chemicals (Car Plan)and they didn't have a cross reference. The colour is actually a silver type (could it be metallic or is there just a lot of lacquer ?)- anyone know what a close colour match might be? - (#648) Bill Jones, 24 Jul 01

it is metallic, plus a lacquer coat. Why don't you go to your nearest motor factors and have some mixed to match and put in an aerosol.
You might want to try Halfords too, I seem to recall them having some Toyota colours on their lists. The match won't be perfect without lacquer anyway... - (#650) David Miller, 24 Jul 01

This ones easy, you don't get to many of these. The Halfords superstore in Basingstoke do a paint mixing service and will make up the paint you want from the colour number on your VIN plate under the drivers seat. They will make it in different amounts including a small touch up size or an aerosole. I've tried the match was perfect. I think the touch up was about £5 and the aerosole about £7. Before using this service I tried all around for some touch up paint. I'm not sure if it's only the larger Halfords that offer this service or not. If yours don't they might be able to direct you to one that does. - (#1093) Patrick Adams, 17 Sep 01
