(Home) Radio/cassette removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the radio(AM only)/cassette from a 1990 Townace Super Extra. It is a "double-din" (double height) unit, radio on top, cassette below. Any help appreciated, thanks! - (#745) Frank Newall, 4 Aug 01

Remove the trim around the instruments-2 screws and some clips. Then the lower trim with all the switches on it that surrounds the radio is retained by a row of screws at the top, andclips at the bottom. After that, four screws retain the radio. Other versions came with a single-din unit, and a cubbyhole below. You might get one of those from the breakers.

Thanks so much for your help, David - much appreciated! It was much easier to do than I thought after your timely advice. As a bonus I also managed to remove the 100Kph "chimes" from the rear of the speedo at the same time!! 10/10! - (#766) Frank Newall, 6 Aug 01

Thanks so much for your help David, much appreciated! 10/10! I also managed to remove the 100Kph "chimes" from behind the speedo at the same time as a bonus!! I posted a "thank you" earlier but it seems to have got lost! Cheers, Frank. - (#767) Frank Newall, 6 Aug 01
