(Home) Oil change

I've just done an oil change on my townace and was wondering:
1) I didn't have any washer on the sump drain plug - is that OK?
2) Is there any particular torque setting for the plug?
3) After running for a few minutes, the engine oil was very black again - is that normal? (I did do an oil flush too)
Thanks for your help! Hopefully I will be able to add some knowledge soon rather than just asking questions!

the sump plug should have either a copper or fibre washer. In saying that, the fibre washer becomes hard to distinguish from the plug after a while.
Torque is 29lb/ft.

Oh, and yes, the oil will turn black again. You'll never flush out all the soot! - (#910) David Miller, 28 Aug 01
