That's interesting. I had mine done there 6 weeks ago. They charged me £329 inc. vat but they replaced the flexible coupling as well. Are you ok for directions?

IAN,I'm not too sure of directions but i think i can get to Sheffield, but from there i have no idea, any help appreciated DAVE L - (#996) DAVE LINNEY, 4 Sep 01

Assuming you know your way to Glossop (if not come back to me), take the A57 Snake Pass road thru Glossop towards Sheffield. You will see plenty of lovely scenery before passing the Snake Inn, then later the Ladybower reservoir. Continue on the A57 and you will pass Rivelin dams on your right. Soon after look for a major fork to the left, Rivelin Valley Road, I think it may signpost "Stannington, Hillsborough, or Rivelin" and take it (if you miss it you will find yourself on a steep incline before passing the Bell Hagg Inn on the left and a Garden Centre to the right). Back to the plot. Continue down Rivelin Valley Road for about 2 miles. You will eventually pass a fire station on your left. Very soon after you will come to a built up area and the junction with Holme Lane. This is a one way system. Turn left and follow the road right round, keep to the left and you will find yourself on tram tracks. Continue very slowly and look for the "Hawleys" sign on your right. You effectively have to drive thru a tunnel between two terraced houses. It opens up into a big garage area at the back.
Good luck and enjoy the scenery. Stop for a pint at the Ladybower Inn on the way back.

.thanx very much,i found out from HAWLEYS that i omitted to tell them about the second box on the exhaust, there price is now £230 plus vat, which brings it closer to what you were charged.its still very reasonable though.DAVE L - (#1003) davelinney, 4 Sep 01

Dave
You mean £280 +VAT don't you? You originally said £225. You can save £15 by having a straight pipe rather than a fancy tailpipe. I still think its expensive compared to what David Miller paid for his but then needs must.

Ian,
Are we talking stainless steel here ? Just laying my plans for whenever the exhaust system gives up the ghost. - (#1016) John Davis, 5 Sep 01

Sorry Ian,I've got a memory like a sieve, let you know after Friday what they do and the final price(ouch!!!!)DAVE L - (#1017) DAVE LINNEY, 5 Sep 01

John
Yes. Powerflow exhausts are South African and only available in UK thru a limited number of outlets. They come with a lifetime guarantee. Trying to source mild steel exhausts is difficult and usually requires going to a dealer which of course involves the special "knock down" price. Check earlier threads for details and URL etc.

Ian,Had my exhaust done Friday,£264 inc vat.very neat job,very pleased with it.Still getting the squealing from the fan/belt area(stumped) DAVE L - (#1029) DAVE LINNEY, 7 Sep 01

dave, if the belts are tight and a lubricant doesn't take away the noise, it could very well be one of the idlers- there's one at the bottomof the engine for the aircon belt, and the fan runs in a bearing in the timing cover. Try taking the belts off one at a time to see when it goes away, spin each accessory by hand to check for noises too. - (#1031) david Miller, 8 Sep 01
