(Home) Spacecruiser automatic choke (Sp+)

i have a 1984 toyota spacecruiser, i believe that the automatic choke is sticking, has anybody got any diagrams that i could look at showing the set up of the choke, or any advice as to how to go about solving my problem.
cheers

Chris
What exactly is the problem, what are the symptoms?
To check the automatic choke - warm up the engine then disconnect the vacuum hose from the diaphragm on the carb and check that the choke valve moves.

Can anyone offer advice on setting up the auto choke.

Symptoms, it don't work.

On start up, the choke does not come on, hence revs are low. Bit of a problem on an autobox (now with restored overdrive thanks to you guys, see appropriate thread)

Once warm, it all runs well.

Any info/advice/diagrams would obviously be helpful.

Are any springs going to ping off as I disassemble the unit?

Thanks

Eric,
Unless another kind soul beats me to it I'll scan and send the exploded diagram, and any relevant words, from the service manual when I get home.

Before you dismantle, check the coil housing line is aligned with the scale centre line on the thermostat case. It should close at 15 deg.C It can be altered +/- to suit differing conditions. Previous owner may have been over-zealous.

After that, needle in haystack time. Electrically check-
1st fuel cut solenoid valve for a click when battery power is connected/disconnected. Same with 2nd fuel cut solenoid valve. Coke heater should be 23-25 ohm when cold. Outer vent control valve between wire terminal and body should be 63-73 ohm.

If dismantling watch out for a spring in choke breaker and a bi-metal spring in the coil housing.

I'll make a start on scanning the manual shall I? :-)
