Circuits and alternator types vary for models shown in manual. Can you say what model you have from VIN plate?
Check for loose drive belt, loose or corroded battery cables, blown fuse, blown fusible link and check that alternator cables are ok.
Do you have access to a voltmeter and ammeter? If above do not apply then you need to determine whether fault lies with regulator or alternator. Again I will need model number in order to give you expected current/voltage readings.

1990 2.0 GL spacecruiser. I nead to get the alternator reconditioned, I live in northamptonshire does anyone know who can do this. Toyota say it's 200 quid for a recon unit plus 50 quid deposite. Probably only needs brushes or regulator pack!.

I got the bushes for my townie from a toyota dealer for only £10. If you can get the alt unit off , fitting the bushes is easy....
good luck.... - (#1510) Paul Morgan, 26 Nov 01
