(Home) Radiators

I have 3 rads. Two mounted together vertically, and one at the front mounted horizontally. (2WD)I guess the forward one is for the air con, I know the larger vertical one is for the cooling system, whats the smaller vertical rad for? - (#1229) Jeff Willcott, 12 Oct 01

It's for the aircon also. - (#1230) David Miller, 12 Oct 01

Sparked by the underseal thread I thought it time to check mine over. Now I thought my eyetest had my eyes upto 20/20 but - I have a RWD Royal Lounge with A/C and hot/cold box - I appear to have 1 normal rad with a smaller one in front which I now know to be the A/C one, I also have a horizontal one with electric fans. I did underseal in the dark of winter when I first had the bus and assumed it was part of the A/C (missed the A/C one completly), the pipes look heavy duty but are just protected. I had a ride around the rad got hot but the fans were not operating. I'm happy to have this extra rad but why is it there or is it standard on a Royal Lounge?

Only on 4x4 autos. fans come on at low speed with aircon and higher when the engine starts to overheat

On my Townace the aircon is not working (needs regassing) so the fans are not working at all. Does this mean that if it starts to get hot the fans will not cut in at all? or is there a separate circuit?

Thanks Steve

Seperate circuit- the thermo switch is at the top of the head near the filler cap
