in the thread below it was mentioned about an "unlock warning switch on the tailgate lock"
when my tailgate was opened it used to trigger the internal lights, but now it doesn't (only the sliding side door does this now)
obviously something has broken on the read door
i cannot find anything to trigger this - what am i missing? - (#1421) skippy, 14 Nov 01
i have got simarlar problem rear tailgate door warning light stays on, but can not find a switch anywhere at the rear that could possilbaly be defunk, i find this sometimes causes battery to run low, although rear interior light is not operating, - (#1422) terry young, 14 Nov 01
The light switch is built into the latch, at the bottom of the tailgate. The unlock switch is seperate, attached to the lock mechanism inside the door. - (#1425) David Miller, 15 Nov 01
but the latch seems to be a sealed unit - so if the connection has deteriated inside I guess there's nothing I can do appart from replace the whole thing? - (#1433) skippy, 18 Nov 01
Is it connected, and are the wires into it intact? - (#1436) David Miller, 19 Nov 01
and connected into the latchig system - but it looks like it won't came apart - seems to be a sealed unit
It did used to work 'till a few months ago - (#1440) skippy, 19 Nov 01
It's probably the latch then, but to be sure, short the terminals it connects to together, light should come on. - (#1452) David Miller, 20 Nov 01
