(Home) Dash button/tailgate

Firstly, does anybody know what the little button on the dash is for, it`s just under the Km/h underneath the speedo with an access hole in the glass on the clocks. I`d like to know what it is before I press it.
Also does anyone know where to get the gassed springs that lift the tailgate, it suddenly got very heavy

Barry,
I think you are referring to the "trip" resetting button for the km/meter. Pressing this will zero the kms on the lower of the two displays.
Ref the gas struts, no doubt the local Toyota dealer could supply these or, have you tried, say, BBC spares ? - (#1572) John Davis, 8 Dec 01

Barry,
this is the trip button no damage will be done by pressing it....now the door shockers get your self done your local scrap yard with yours and see if you can get a pair the same size...save u £££££££££££ - (#1576) granty, 8 Dec 01

Thanks for both lots of info but I feel I should have described the " button " a little better. The trip reset is more to the centre of the dash,
This one is flush with the dials and on the far left and it looks like it should be pressed with the point of a pen. - (#1579) Barry Powell, 9 Dec 01

what year is it, Barry? It doesn't have a clock in the dash? other possibility is it's to reset the timing belt indicator fitted to some. - (#1594) david miller, 10 Dec 01
