(Home) Curtain rails

Yes I know it's a bit sad, but I have got all the Linear Motors for the curtains working in my Townie, with the exception of the top one on the tailgate, does anyone have one that they don't want, as I might as well have them all working, especially the rear ones, who needs a dipping rear view mirror when you can just blip the curtains closed. If you can help, please e-mail me. Thanks everyone. - (#1599) Rob Drinkwater, 10 Dec 01

Rob
As far as electric curtains go, I'm sure you will find the novelty wears off after a short while. They aren't very practical as I find I have to keep them tied back otherwise they ride acroos the window and restrict vision. Of course when you actually do want to close them, you have to untie them first, which kind of contradicts the need for power curtains in the first place. However, if you are insistant on getting them all working, BBC Spares are showing closed for Xmas on their website. Alternatively you can try Bullivant Garage at Derby, they have some kind of sub-franchise with Toyota and specialise in Toyota imports. They are on 01332 671000 and carry a lot of Townace spares or they will order direct from Japan. Alternatively there's a breakers in Manchester who specialise in Townaces and they do mailorder Tel. 0161 230 7500.

Yes Ian, I agree, the power operation of the side curtains is a "bit over the top" but, what delight I always get, when those simpletons come right up behind you, with about 300 watts of head/fog light power, doing their best to burn the paint off the Masterace tailgate, and I am able to draw the curtains and disrupt their juvenile display of bad manners. Yes, Yes, I know it's a bit petty and, no doubt, a bit sad but, I don't know of any other vehicle in which this can be done and it's always very satisfying. I might take it a bit further and put a message on each of the rear curtains. The offside curtain would show the word "Off". The nearside might be "Switch" (or anything else which comes to mind. - (#1608) John Davis, 11 Dec 01

So what you really want are the rockets, oil sprayer and machine-guns as fitted to 007's DB6. I hope I don't get too close to you one night on the M1 !

Don't forget the ejector seats, the skylight rooves look ideal for this purpose, now where did i put those reall powerful springs, who needs a costly divorce, just eject her on the motorway. - (#1613) Rob Drinkwater, 11 Dec 01
