(Home) Speedo

i have stuck on some yellow self adhesive tape(in very narrow strips) at the 30,40,56 & 70mph points on my speedo, it shows up well in day & night. - (#1648) john collier, 17 Dec 01

John
Surprised that you of all people needed to do that being an ex IT man. Counting in hex should be a doddle for you? 16=10, 32=20, 48=30 etc.

i do tend to calculate speeds just for something to do as i catch the overtakers at, the next lights, christmas greetings to all?
BTW i now have the engine manual. very interesting, they are still available - (#1675) john collier, 21 Dec 01

j reg townie speedo has stopped working was intermittent now not at all, have removed and checked plugs at rear but still no good , anyone have any ideas? - (#2712) ron, 10 Apr 02

Has the cable snapped inside the sleeve? Remove cable from back of dial, grab inner cable with snipe-nosed pliers and try and pull it out. They usually break near dash. If a bit of cable comes out, you need a new one.

In which case it looks like you have a dodgy contact or a split wire causing a short. Worth going through the circuit to try and find it.
