(Home) Tyre pressure

I have a 1991 Townace SuperExtra Turbo Diesel.
Can anyone advise on tyre pressures?

Most people seem to run between 37-42psi. Check the sticker on the drivers door jamb... - (#1724) david miller, 28 Dec 01

Yes, the pressure is on the plate inside the door jamb but, I am still twittering on about the "lumpy" front suspension of my Masterace 4WD. The "advised" pressure is 2.3 Bar or, around 33 psi. David's very valid comment seems to indicate that higher pressures are the norm. Could anyone kindly advise if they have experimented with these higher(front) pressures and did the "ride" improve or not ?
Thanks for any comment. - (#1725) John Davis, 28 Dec 01

John
I used to run mine at 35 but following the recent poll on the subject, I'm now running at 40. The steering I find a little more "slack" at speed but you soon get used to it and adapt accordingly.

Can anyone tell me what my tyre pressures should be? - (#2316) Lynne, 22 Feb 02

Lynne. Just inside the drivers door, on the left pillar, there should be a plate which gives you the tyre pressures. There are two alternatives on my Masterace, to suit which size tyres are fitted. I should think that the Townace pressures should be similar ie, 2.3 bar or, about 32.5 psi - (#2317) John Davis, 22 Feb 02

hi lynn on my lite ace 2 wd the tyre pressures
front and rear 2.3bar =33/34 psi (on o/s door pillar)

I agree with the other posts. Keep the pressures up by checking regularly. You'll get loads of outside tread wear on the fronts if you run them soft. - (#2354) SteveFE, 25 Feb 02

There should be a plate in the car which tells you the pressures and tyre sizes. - (#2539) sandra, 16 Mar 02

I have a model F 2.2 litre petrol. My manual states 2.3 Bar(34psi), but I use 2.5 Bar(36psi) normally and 2.7 Bar(39psi) when driving with heavy load.
Using 40psi (2.8 Bar)seems alot to me. You are risking bad handling especially under wet conditions. Most tyre can stand over 50psi if you want to try it.

If you have the money fore it, maybe changing tire to 205/65x14 could solve your problem, or even changing springs/shockabs.

40-42 suits my driving style- much softer and the shoulders of the tread scuff off...
Just check the maximum inflation pressure tho...
