Hi all

On New Year's Day my super extra TD developed a loud knocking noise from the front of the engine when running at under 1000 rpm. Noise disappears when revs high. Could it be time belt slap???? A quick look today revealed nothing loose that I could see. Any ideas?

Possibly, but try also the alternator/ vacuum pump,and water pump. Any chabce there's a big valve clearance? - (#1772) david miller, 2 Jan 02

I had similar symptoms. Traced it to a loose crankshaft pulley. Worth putting a spanner on it and making sure its tight ! - (#1816) stephen judge, 4 Jan 02
