(Home) Blowing fuse

I have a Townace 4WD TD. The fuse for the Hazzard lights and horn blows every time a new one is fitted, before anything is operated. i.e. instantly.
This may seem an easy problem, but where do I start??.
We recently had an immobiliser fitted and i know he went into the steering wheel consul, but he must be the most unhelpful person i have ever met and has denied any responsibliity, and offered no assistance.
Any ideas?? - (#1805) Bob Amabile, 4 Jan 02

Bob, two horns, both fitted behind the front bumper. Is your immobiliser linked to the indicators or horn as an alarm? The indicator circuit has two feeds, one from your blowing fuse, and one from the "turn" fuse. The horns are switched in the earth side, so for them to blow the fuse, you'd need a short to earth before the horns themselves. More likely the fault is with the indicator side of things. Try getting a replacement switch to try- each switch on the column can be removed independantly. The indicator and hazards are all one switch, so a fault there could cause fuses to blow.
I think you shouls talk to your fitter again. If the device is recently fitted and he won't help, talk to trading standards and get a second opinion.

Thanks for the advice.
The immobiliser is not connected to either the horn or the indicators, but I know he has been in the steering colum, as it had been adjusted. (my wife noticed the different driving position)and moaned about it of course!!.
I think he may have damaged a wire and it now shorts to earth. but can't find anything obvious. I'll have a better look in the morning. - (#1811) Bob Amabile, 4 Jan 02
