(Home) Lightace front shockers

Im a 32 yeas old owner of a 2.0ltr manual deisel 4wd lightace and have visited this site regular so thought it was time to make a slight contribution. I find the ride a bit on the soft side (certain roads in sheffield feel more like i'm in a boat).Got it checked out at charlie browns (while it was in for oil & filter change which cost about £26)and was told the front shocker were worn & would cost £55 each including fitting. After many phone call & visits to local motor factors(cheapest was £52 each) found that no one could beat the maindealer (pentagon toyota in rotherham whose parts personel were most helpful) on price £28 each imported direct from Japan on an overnight delivery which took about 10 days to arrive.Well worth the wait at 1/2 the price anyone else could manage - (#1866) mitch, 10 Jan 02

Thanks for that Mitch, worth remembering and taking a detour to make that much saving. I find your description of Sheffield roads a little strange. I find them more like driving on a building site or even off-roading. They really are dire. Is the toyota dealer in Rotherham still on the opposite side of the road to the Hovis mill but further towards town?

I take it you never use manor lane, coming down at anything above 30 mph feels like your riding the waves, and yes the toyota dealer in question is on sheffield road just before the centenary roundabout(from sheffield ) - (#1872) mitch, 11 Jan 02
