I've been wondering for a while, anybody else from Ulster other than Ken, Stephen, and myself? - (#2017) david miller, 31 Jan 02

Perhaps we should have an update from Mark's website? Perhaps not everyone has logged on to that and added where they are from? There's loads of Townies in the Weston/Bristol area....
I was at the hospital the other day and 3 more turned up whilst I was there! Even Halfords, etc. know what I'm talking about when I say I've got a Townie! - (#2026) Phil Jones, 31 Jan 02

Hi Phil
We're in Bristol and I have noticed quite a few - you're not the Townie that keeps waving to us are you? Found it embarrasing at first, but someone else waved today as well, getting used to it now! Like you said, no one knows what a townie is...family & friends call it a bus, van etc. My 19 yr old brother in law won't even go in it!

what is marks website? - (#2035) ron, 31 Jan 02

David there has certainly been a big increase in the number of "Townies" I've seen in the Belfast area over the last 12 months - since I've got mine. Maybe due to the fact that I'm now looking out for them. There are several, of whom I know their location and several garages I know of who have them for sale. Grahams of saintfield advertise them regularly in the Autotrader as well as many other Jap imports. Locally Howards of Bloomfield Avenue always have one in their forcourt. I have been in contact with both of these dealers for inquiries( contact Grahams for second hand spares and vehicles - he brings them in directly in bulk from Japan and has a working contact there. He could certainly be used as a source for bringing in second hand parts from japan as I know he sometimes does this. He knows my family from years ago when they were traders).
Perhaps if David Mason has no objection I/we could request to these Dealers that when selling such a vehicle they recommend the "affiliation" to this site thereby benefiting all parties? by promoting the Web site and its function.
What do you both think? - (#2039) stephen Judge, 31 Jan 02

Grahams? That'll be £150 extra for a service before you get it, then. Cambelt change? not part of the service, £100... - (#2041) david miller, 1 Feb 02

Stephen suggested getting Townace dealers to promote these websites and I've certainly no objection. I agree that the more visitors the better.
I have been working on the idea, with Steve FE, of a car window sticker which would promote the site and help us spot one another one the road. I thought that selling bundles (plus a mention on the websites) to dealers might be a good way of distibuting them and financing the project.
However we have not got past a design yet. Anyone want to volunteer to compile a definitive list of dealers names and contact details? there are some attempts on the websites already. Then we'd need some effort to contact them all, plus someone to handle distribution to all (500?) of us existing owners. - (#2080) Dave Mason, 4 Feb 02

Hello from Wexford,
Just bought a Townace in Newcastle Co. Down and brought it down to Wexford yesterday. Had to tow it because the engine has apparantly blown the head gasket. Hope to get it all in shape again for trip to Italy this summer. Would welcome a chat with N Ireland owners on how to proceed.
Regards,
Laurence
