townace 2ltr td 92 j reg 2wheel drive auto, can anyone tell me part numbers for replacement brake pads - (#2239) ron, 16 Feb 02

Ron,
Please take a look at the main site, go to the parts page, I have posted a huge list of parts available for the Townies from ADL Blueprint, range available via your local factor. Brake pads are listed there. HTH, Regards Rob. - (#2247) Rob Drinkwater, 17 Feb 02

I recently needed front pads for my '91 4x4 townie.
I went to my local supplier in Leicester and and they cost me about £ 15 to £20 ,I cant remember exactly.
The part numbers were from the brake world catalogue it was BW 375 - (#2360) cliff w, 26 Feb 02

i just had mine changed
£22.62 including VAT - ADT34223AF (thanks Rob) - (#2361) skippy, 26 Feb 02

In case it is of any interest to anyone I have just replaced the brake pads on my 1987 Lite Ace 1.8 ltr petrol. I obtained them off the shelf from A&S Motor Spares in Salford Gtr Manchester for the sum of £15.
They may not be Ferodo or Mintex but I have used their brake parts on many vehicles over the years without any complaints. The phone No is 01617369620
Hope this may help someone.
Tony.

Can anyone advise on what Halfords front pads to fit on my 1990 super extra. Also any advice on fittinng would be welcome.

- (#7284) BOB PAGE, 20 Feb 03

I wouldn't use Halfords pads if my life depended on it, they are sourced from just about anyone that can supply them a pad @ the cheapest price, personally I would use a set from ADL, part number depends on age & 2x4 or 4x4, advise on this info & I'll tell you what number you need, also advise on your location & I'll also try to tell you who deals in ADL in your area. HTH Rob.

could anyone help? i need front brake pads for my 90 townace do i need to order these from the toyota dealers or can they be bought of the shelf? thanx
for any advice.....great site

just bought my set from my local motor factors, used the code for Brakeworld pads(BW375),cost £17.50

Be careful to get the right pads,i find it best to take the old pads with you if you can, as the first set they offered me were not quite correct even though they fitted in the calipers perfectly the friction material was the wrong shape.

HTH

Pete

You can find the numbers of many of your spare parts on the "Parts" area of this site. They are ADL Blueprint numbers which your local motor spares shop should be able to cross reference to find you the cheapest deal.

Follow the link to "Return To Home Page" and click on the "Parts" icon on the left.

try FOREIGN AUTO PARTS as listed in ace answers. all they need is your vehicles chassis number and they will send you the parts you need. I purchased 2 fuel, 2 oil, 1 air filter, and 1 cambelt for £41.05 including vat and £5 delivery. Brilliant value. Just ask for Andy

I seriously suspect a leak of gas/oil from my Masterace Surf cool box. How do I get under the box to check over the joints ? Does the cool box trim come off easy or does it fight?

Regards tew

Terry you should have started a new thread. I also advocate doing it yourself but with AC gas I suggest you contact the experts.
Yes the trim does come of easy if you are careful, be aware of cables and connections attached to the side panel and that the gas may knock you out!

Hi all, can someone please tell me how to go about changing the front brake pads on my Townace two wheel drive, ie. Will I have to remove the brake calipers? Will the system need bleeding?

- (#11880) Tim, 19 Nov 03 14:59

I would suggest that if you are having to ask such questions, then you are not the right person to do the job!!! If you do the job, please make sure you're never behind me.

Regards Rob.

Undo the bolt at the bottom of the caliper, it is on the inside 12 or 14mm depends on which caliper. The caliper can then be eased up on through 120 degrees or so, there is a hole in the knuckle joint that lets you put the bolt you just removed in to, that holds the caliper out of the way. Some pads have cross over springs, watch out they may try to attack you!
Pads simply twist out and new ones in. The piston(s) on the caliper needs to be pushed slowly back into the caliper to allow for the new thickness of pad, watch out the filler point does not over flow!
Don't forget the various shims and springs and it's caliper down bolt in. Pump the brake to get the piston in the correct position and you are done.
Allways use a good jack or axle stand the Toyota one is useless.
If you have any concerns about the above don't do it your life may depend on it!
