(Home) Brake pads, discs & 4WD front wheel bearings

My situation is that I have a LiteAce, registered 1993, 2.0 TD Auto, 4WD, CR-30 chassis no. Very pleased with it, but I need the following parts:
Front brake pads
Front discs
Front wheel bearing
I have received conflicting advice about availability from ADL Blueprint. The latest info. is that as a >92 model they don't supply for it.
Another supplier has given me the following parts no. and suggested they might be the parts I need:
Discs ADT34369
Pads ADT34246
Another one gave me the parts no. and prices for a LiteAce commercial van, before I realised they were so cheap and available that something was wrong!!
Any suggestions?

With anticipation and appreciation of any help anyone can offer,

Discsa and bearings should be same as the earlier model 4x4. Are you aware that the bearings are taper roller, and adjustable. Don't normally give trouble... - (#2299) david miller, 21 Feb 02

>Discs and bearings should be same as the earlier model 4x4.
The advice I have been receiving from parts suppliers would seem to contradict this, Dave, could I ask what's the basis for your thoughts?
The changeover seems to be 92-93 and the price for discs seems to be double ~ £95 ea. +vat
>Are you aware that the bearings are taper roller, and adjustable. Don't normally give trouble...
That's interesting about the adjustment, I will check that with the mechanic. Thanks. - (#2310) John, 21 Feb 02

Toyota use a lot of common parts from the same suppliers, and the 92-on facelift was just that.
Was it your toyota dealer giving you the info, or a factors? the discs for the 4x4 are fairly unique, they're bigger, have a bigger centre hole, and five stud holes, not four. My guess id that someone gave you a price for a 2x4 set, then a 4x4 set. I think they're listed in the brakeworld catalogue, or try lockheed BG710/ 2710 - (#2311) david miller, 21 Feb 02

Is there a difference between the parts for the commercial van and MPV Liteace parts? Particularly suspension / exhaust / ball joints / anti roll bar bushings and brake pads ? - (#2313) stephen judge, 21 Feb 02

For your year, and like models, (remember, there is no european turbo-D) probably not, Stephen. But 4x4 versions are completely different. - (#2315) david miller, 22 Feb 02

>> Toyota use a lot of common parts from the same suppliers, and the 92-on facelift was just that.

Generally, factors. One even went as far as saying that the particular chassis on my 93 Liteace van was only used by Toyota for 8 months and there are so few in the country that there is little chance of parts being imported for them! Geee!
>>the discs for the 4x4 are fairly unique, they're bigger, have a bigger centre hole, and five stud holes, not four.
Yes, you are right about that, I think this is part of the reason for the high-ish price (63+vat ea. Toyota, £85 eac. elsewhere)
>>My guess id that someone gave you a price for a 2x4 set, then a 4x4 set.
It could be. After fairly extensive research with all the factors mentioned on the ACE website, the cheapest option is actually the Toyota dealer in Nottingham!! Apparently Toyota have slashed parts prices by 50% recently (this seemed to be borne out when I mentioned the price quote of Toyota dealer to the only Factor who was also able to supply the parts (BBC Spares - he wasn't too impressed, either!)
>> I think they're listed in the brakeworld catalogue, or try lockheed BG710/ 2710
The Brakeworld catalogue only lists parts for the SpaceCruiser and other Euro models, from what I could tell. I couldn't find any Lockheed catalogue to search for these parts no.'s.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP, THOUGH.
My options seem to be
to pay up to £485 for the whole job at a dealer. I can save £100 if I go for a SKIM on the discs. But the tolerance may not be there and I may have to wait two weeks for parts from Japan, or two days from Continent.
If I go for an adjustment on the wheel bearing, rather than a replacement and see how it goes, I can save another £140-ish.
I think I may to just bite an expensive bullet... - (#2334) John, 24 Feb 02

Those lockheed p/nos came straight from the catalogue as a cross-reference from the toyota part number for my 1991 CR30. Did you get a note of the toyota p/no from your dealer? If so, I have a Lockheed book within my grasp... - (#2343) david miller, 25 Feb 02

Part no.'s supplied by my Toyota dealer are:
Discs 2 43512-28140 £63.82 ea.
Pads 4 04465-28190 £44.85 set 4
Wheel bearing outer 90368-45087 £39.62
inner 90366-50011 £59.13
With appreciation for your interest, can you also let me know how I would go about getting the lockheed parts, if they are indeed cheaper / available?

John
Partco are usually pretty good at cross-referencing Toyota part numbers to other brands. Otherwise if you can find a specialist brake-parts outfit such as Brakeline Factors (Sheffield). I've found them to be very helpful in the past.

the original toyota number for my, earlier 4x4 is 28040, so the difference might be nil, other than supercession. Your local bearing house might be able to source the bearings, if they're numbered - (#2351) david miller, 25 Feb 02
