(Home) Coolant air locks/bubbles after new headgasket

Hi all from NZ,
Firstly, great to find a resource like this after 4 yrs of information vacuum.
Our Master Ace Surf 1990 (3YEU petrol) has almost come through the following surgery.
Timing pulley replaced (Oil Leak).
Head work, re-gasketed, skimmed, valves done.
Radiator core replaced.
The mechanics have run her up to temp plus had one outing. A re-check for coolant bubbling has shown 1 or 2 bubbles still coming through. Head mech said they're trying some sealant near an inlet port and were told to expect some bedding in for the new gasket.
Any suggestions etc would be appreciated.
cheers
