As I recall, the heater switch is a slide control like the Townace. Do you mean the blower switch?

If you mean the blower, it'll be the resistor gone faulty. It screws into the fan cowling , behind the glovebox- four wires going to it, IIRC - (#2424) david miller, 6 Mar 02

Could be the blower motor relay but as David says the likely culprit is the blower resistor. There are 4 wires going into it. If you look at the connector it is shaped like a rectangle with an offset at the bottom. Going clockwise, starting at the top left, the contacts are M1, L, H, M2.
Check for the following resistance between the connections
H - M2 approx 0.2 ohms, M2 - M1 approx 0.7 ohms, M1 - L approx 2.1 ohms. If not as specified replace the resistor.
