(Home) Overheating. New buyer help required

Hi.
I was lucky enough to find this site so here is my questions.
I read a lot about overheating. Am I correct in assumping there is a temperature gauge on the dash? In other words how do I know if it is overheating ?
In addition I have just brought a 1992 2.0 Diesal, I have asked the dealer to bundle a new cam belt into the deal, should I also replace the radiator cap myself ? - (#2502) Julia Watson, 10 Mar 02

Julie
If it aint broke don't fix it!
Temp gauge - normal is mid point of scale, if it swings to right you have a problem. Regularly check the coolant level by removing the rad cap when cold. If it needs regular topping up then worry about problems. Rad cap could be your first thing to look at.
