i have a problem with my 1991 townace 4wd 2.0td that i purchased a couple of weeks ago.
when i turn the steering wheel full lock i can hear a clonking on the front end somewhere.it only seems to happen when i am going slow (eg. reversing out of a parking space etc.)i am hopeless at car diy so have booked the car into the garage where i bought it from.i don't want to be ripped off so i thought one of you guys might be able to suggest what the problem might be. - (#2564) Dave Armstrong, 26 Mar 02

Going over slight bumps when on full lock? Check for plastic steering stops under car, sort of behind the brakecaliper- they contact the lower arm on full lock, and wear out. Part number is in Ace Answers somewhere. If they look OK (they won't) slap some grease on. And do that with new ones too. - (#2567) david miller, 27 Mar 02
