Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the clutch on my 2.0L manual Townace, if so how? - (#2656) Steve Low, 5 Apr 02

Hi to all Townies
Having new engine put in after my overheating saga. Garage suggested new clutch. My Townace is Super Extra 2TD manual. I have a clutch kit part number (from this website) ADT 330148, can anyone tell me if this is right? And also how much I should expect to pay. I rang The local shop, everytime I mention Townace, seems to double his prices. So thought I would check here first.
Desperately grateful for any response. Been off the road for 6 weeks

ADT330148 sounds like a possible kit number for your Townie, but assuming yours is RWD, not 4X4, there are 2 date changes listed in the Blue Print applications. (Incidentally if having trouble finding a distributor for Blue Print part of their website has a handy map with names and phone numbers.www.blueprint-adl.co.uk)What year is yours? Send the complete chassis number and I'll try and confirm your date of build and the part number.
As an aside, I only found this fantastic site yesterday. It was a good tonic for a raging hangover and must've given the Townie good vibes too as it passed the MoT today!

Debbie, you sound like you must be in the trade, are you looking this info up from the ADL CD ROM, or the grey import catalogue. Or even do you work for ADL. Like the E-mail address, surely it's not that boring. Regards Rob.

I have had a look on all the aftermarket CD's for a clutch for a 4x4 Townie, all I can find for it is the cover assembly, but when cross referencing this to UK spec vehicles, it shows as the same cover as on the Spacecruiser models including 2.2 4x4 petrol, Delphi Borg & Beck show a kit for this vehicle, so it is possible that their part number HK8630 would fit your car, the HK8630 kit consistes of the following parts:-

HE5231 Diaphragm spring cover (Diameter 225mm)
HB8321 Driven Plate (diam 225mm with 21 splines)
HB2429 Release bearing

This equates to LUK part numbers
623 0310 600
623 0310 601
623 0996 600
623 0996 601
623 1006 600
623 1006 601

It might be worth phoning around to see if anyone has got one of these kits, then take your clutch out & go & compare the components to see if it will fit.

I believe that this kit retails at under £100.00.

HTH Rob.

The toyota p/nos are
31230-35090 for the release bearing. This is used in a number of UK vehicles inc the liteace diesel
31210-35090 is the cover. Also applied to UK Hiluxes and Hiaces amongst others.
31250-28061 is the plate. I can't refer this or the CR21 item to any UK vehicle. The difference might only be in the compound or springs, so you could try the UK liteace diesel item for the same build period. 31250-27082

Perhaps these numbers will make your search easier...
