this is a long shot m8 but i had same on another motor ..what was happening was that the oil in gear box was thick ..when cold but soon as it got temp up it used to thin out....so there was a little bit of wear on the plastic drive for the speedo..(gear box end)...so i changed the plastic worm drive and it was cured...

Or the sender might be breaking down when hot. Try metering it out cold, then when faulty, see if it's O/C

Ronnie, the two screws that are removed to get the 62Mph dinger out are easily identifiable, remove the instrument panel then turn it over so you can see the circuit board clearly, you will notice two screw sized holes a few inches apart in the plastic circuit board, the holes are edged by a thin metal strip that makes contact with the screws (and originally the dinger contact terminals) you need to make sure that the two screws are in place, they are needed to make contact on the circuit board so that the speedo works, however, I am not sure if that would manifest as your problem of no speedo when warm.
