(Home) Wiper blades

A while ago, someone asked about wiper blades for townaces, as you know, the wipers are bolted onto the arms & are off set, ie the wiper is above & not inline with the arm, these are readliy available from any motor factor that stocks ADL Blueprint product, the part numbers are below, the blades are actually made by TRICO for ADL, so quality is absolutely the best.

Drivers & Passengers Front ADG09718S 18"
Rear Tailgate ADG09716S 16"

Although I have just fitted a 17" rear one as there is plenty of un wiped rear screen, don't go any bigger though, otherwise you risk burning out the rear wiper motor due to the increased drag of longer blade. HTH regards Rob.

Me again it looks like ive got vauxhall fittings on mt wipers but what sizes do i need the font ones look like they are slightly diffrent sizes what sizes are rite for the fron and back help cos i really do need to change them

Andy, If its just the wiper blades you need the parts numbers from an ADL stockist is ADL adg09718s front 18" £7.16 + vat. ADL adg09717s rear 17" £6.40 + vat.
Normal size for rear is 16" but the motor will take a 17" without any strain and gives a bit more wipe area.
The blades wipe very well and do not make any rubbing noise as the halfords one did.
They are made by a well known manufacture but I cant remember the name at the moment. Hope this helps. Phil

Just a thought that may help some of you. While talking to Mike (sorry second name has gone) in ASDA car park last Friday, he complained about the washer squirting over the wipers and not the screen. I noticed that he had replacement blades connected directly onto the arms. The original Jap blades sit along side, the arm is about 1cm lower in this arrangement. The washers hit the screen and I feel the blades wipe better this way. I directed him to Halfords (next door)who for around £1 sell Japonese adapters. Otherwise full of praise for his new to him Townace, and a new reader of this and sister sites.

Hi, I wonder if you can tell me what wiper blades I need for my 1991 registered imported liteace. (2litre).
I remember seeing the info on a site earlier this year and foolishly didn't make a note of it. I remember someone saying you had to get shorter blades for the wiper arm due to the strength of the wiper motor.
Thanking you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

The wiper blades I have replaced on my 1990 r/l 2ct The fronts from an adl stockist is ADG09718S £7.16 +vat each rear is a 16 inch standard but I have fitted a 17 inch and the motor is fine with that. Rear number is ADG09717S £6.40 +vat or 16S for 16 inch. Very good blades. Hope this helps, Regards Phil

Lyn,
On my TownAce it's 18" front and 16" back. Measure your existing ones. Make sure you get the Japanese adaptors (re-use old ones?) if you are changing more than the rubber, which help the blades sit correctly and allow the window washers to hit the screen not the blades.

2c-t in the townace is 82ps/ hp, if I recall correctly.
Not sure about the torque, but it'll be in line with the other small turbo diesels- 150-200Nm at a guess.

Hi
Just replaced head gasket on 2ct and it is noisy (Can only be decribed as load deisel knock)on tickover and up to 1800 revs. Turbo seems to come in then and it is as smooth as silk. Help, is it something to do with the Turbo or me putting air pipes on the wrong way round. Exhaust is blowing on first section, could this be it.
Any help please Joe

Having replaced my wiper blades I would highly recommend the following productfor the Townie,
Genolite,
WB1018-wiper blades and arms (made in Cyprus)
The kit even contains the arm screws and steel connection brackets.
From my local motor factor price £5.00 for the PAIR.
While your at it upgrade the rear wiper using the best of the old blades.

I have a J Reg 1991 Toyota Townace Royal Lounge 2.0ltr diesel, it has failed the mot today on the front wiper blades. I need some in a hurry as I only have 7 days for the re-test and my local Toyota dealer doesn't have any in stock. I have also tried my local Halfords but no luck there either. I need the wiper blades and the part that connects the blade on to the arm with the 2 screws if you know what I mean.
The car also failed on the 2 rear anti roll bar drop link pins due to there been excessive play. I have been quoted £40 for these from Toyota, does anyone know where I might get them cheaper? If anybody knows where I might be able to order some could you please contact me at my email address:-
DAVE_THE_MUSICMAN@HOTMAIL.COM .

Many Thanks,
Dave

go to any good motor factor and ask for a japanese wiper adaptor. My local factors sells Valeo blades, and will give an adaptor free on request...

- (#7195) dpmiller@aol.com, 17 Feb 03

Dave, ref the drop link bushes, I got some old shock absorber bushes, cut them down, and pressed them into the drop link eyes. I think David Miller even packed his out with tape. Anything, in hard rubber, which will be a press fit (nut/bolt and a couple of washers)in the drop link, with a bore to suit the pin, would suffice.

Dave,
The wipers can be replaced from an ADL parts supplier the numbers are ADG09718S for the fronts. £14.32 + vat.

ADG09717S for a 17" rear £6.40 + vat. This replaced my 16" for a better wipe area.
They are the right fittings including the screws.

The drop pin bushes from toyota part number
T90385-11021 £2.51 incl vat pair.
