(Home) Flashing unit

can any-one help me'i just got a space-cru'sr 85 c reg
the flashing unit is gone i think''they come on but dont flash,where do i find the unit to check it and if it needs a new one is there other's that will work...lynn

I can't honestly remember what shape the Space flasher is. IIRC the resistance on these things are the same on most if not all cars. It's the angle, size and position of the three spade connectors that differ. Best bet would be to take it off and take it to a local friendly motor factors to see if they can match it. Alternatively go for a wander round your local scrappy.

when the engine starts and runs it sounds like a volkswagon i check'd the plugs they seem ok dont know if the h-t is breaking down'also the 2 round things near the fuse box seem to get hot'dont know what there for.can any one help please,

the manual shows the flasher unit as being cube shaped. It's to the left of the steering column, behind the dash and just below the instrument panel. the 3 wires should be W-B, G-W, B-G.
The two round things you refer to are light control relays.
The noise, running on 3 cylinders? - are you getting a good spark from each plug? Remove all plugs, connect to respective HT leads and lay them all on the engine (so that they are earthed). keep your hands away and get someone to crank the engine. Should get a big blue spark from each.
