these silver round things are relays there should be no probs with tham

the missing could be a lead loose or worn also get someone to check in your dizzy cap..could be worn contacts or rotar arm,,,

Just read Lynns problem and guess what - I came to this board with same question on same day!
Townace - G Reg - 2Y - 1800 Petrol. Had for 3 years and just been for 3rd MOT. Failed on emmision (there is a slight misfire). Just changed plugs. All old plugs look ok - light brown deposits - no oil. Changed air filter. Misfire still there. Slow idle is at about 1100 - bit high? I think it could be timing or dizzy cap.
How do you adjust timing?
How can you (easily) remove dizzy.

had a similar problem on 84 2y 1800 spacecruiser...
misfire was high mileage leads breaking down...found
by crypton tuner at the garage i work at.

CAREFUL when trying to remove dizzy as can stick into
block if never been moved before.

my dizzy had failed & required heat to remove it from block.
data i have for 2y engine is 8 deg +/- 1 deg with vac hose plugged...this was taken from AUTODATA CD.

might be worth getting a reputable workshop who have
a crypton tuning machine & a technician who does know how to diagnose from the info given by it,to give your vehicle a check over.
