(Home) Paint code (Sp+)

I wonder if anyone can identify the paint code on my 1991 Master Ace Surf? It is a two tone gold/beige metallic, the code on the VIN plate is 21L.

Quote this to your Toyota dealer. Presumably you want it to buy paint from them?

My Toyota dealer was unable (unwilling?) to provide any paint code information. They had loads of books with colour info but no-one seemed to know how or where to find what I wanted. They said they would investigate and phone me but never did. Not very impressed. I would rather find an equivalent or get it mixed in aerosol form from Halfords.

In which case you would do better to take the vehicle or a small sample of the paint (fuel cap cover for example)to a paint specialist and get them to mix you up a tin or aerosol. This would work out cheaper and be a better match for your paint which will have weathered from the original. (Surely you're not serious about Halfords?)

Buy paint from motor factors, not Halfords. They have thousands of codes stored on thousands of poundworth of mixing systems just for this purpose. They will decode the 21L into two three-digit codes. Just have to choose the shade then...
Dealers don't know about paint.

On my spacecruiser there is a little carpet flap on the bottom near drivers seat..lift carpet ,under ther there is vin plate on this plate there is your paint code it should have a number and couple letters or vicer verca could even have name of colour..but in your case it will be r/34/t45/ this is an example because your motor as 2 colours.......you would have to phone around some decant paint shops (cars) and qoute the codes..this type of paint is base coat because you have to spray that on first..then apply the laquer...none as base coat and laquer you could go to halfords and see if its there but i doubt it.....

No, Granty, Toyota use a single three digit code for multitones. That is decoded into the individual colour codes by cross reference.
How do I know? I look after paint IT systems in bodyshops for all the major paint companies...
