(Home) Tailgate lock striker plate & spare wheel rack lowering bolt

Does anybody know if the tailgate lock striker plate is adjustable (forwards & backwards) to correctly set up the closing position of the tailgate. I've tried but the captive nuts are not for moving!
Also, does anybody have or know of a breakers yard (Lancs area) that might have a spare wheel rack lowering bolt. I snapped it while trying to get the spare out. Good job I had Toetectors on.

The striker plate should be adjustable once the screws have been loosened. They usually are tight. Do you have an impact driver? they only cost about a fiver from the likes of Argos.

The wheel rack lowering bolt should be the same off a Spacecruiser which should be more readily found in a breakers. Otherwise get one made up at an engineers. You will still have the threaded hook, the bolt part should be easy to fabricate.

Sometimes there's a single spotweld holds the backplate in position. Slacken the screws off, and hammer the striker in the required direction.
The winch bolt fir the spare comes in different lengths depending on tyre size AFAIK

Thanks for the prompt replies. Impact driver and big hammer etc shifted it. Door rattle now gone. I stripped the door catch (using angle grinder to open the rivets) and fabricated new contacts for the courtesy light switch from brass shim. I,ve now got a working tailgate switch. A bit fiddly to do but you only need tin snips & a needle file to do the job (and it is a good opertunity to give the catch a good cleanout. I'll see if i can get a 12mm fine threaded rod to repair the winch bolt.
Cheers
