Happened to me a few years ago. Took both parts to a local, good quality, Locksmith ( fancy name for a key cutting agency )and they were able to cut me a new one with no problems.

First thing I do when I buy a car is to get a spare key cut. Never mind - note that not just any key cutter can do Toyota keys. You need one that holds the Toyota "blanks". Your Toyota dealer should be able to tell you who in your area does this. And yes they should be able to cut one from the pieces.
