hi do i need to pull the carpet up to do the back shocks,do i jack it up or can i use ramps on front and back....lynn

You need to compress the suspension in order to get the old shocks off and new ones on. You're going to need a good jack. If you've not replaced shocks before, get a generic manual - Haynes for example. This can be a dangerous operation if you don't take proper precautions.
