(Home) Tyres, size matters

Hi everyone, our 4x4 has got the 195/70 R14 tyres on it on the chromed steel rims that most of the 4x4's seem to have, they standard tyres seem o.k. even though you seem to have to run quite high pressures to make it handle/combat ouside edge wear on the tyres. I was speaking to a customer the other day who had put 205/70 R14's all round on his, he said it handled O.K. and I had to agree it filled up the wheel arches a bit better than the 195's. Has anyone else done a similar thing, I am up for some new tyres soon & if she runs O.K. on the 205's I might change to them, opinions please, thanks, Rob.

I'm now running 185/80 van tyres. Cheapest I could find, and I don't detect any difference in the handling. 205/70s are going to be quite dear, no?
The 185/80s fill the arches pretty well, probably about the same O/D as 205/70s...
And remember wide sticky tyres= bad MPGs...

Oh, and as mentioned elsewhere, check the load index of any tyre...
