Welcome to the wonderfull world of Japanese motorway driving! My vehicle chime was actually faulty and all I heard was the relay Ticking, thought I was driving with the hazard lights on! It's pretty easy to remove though. The instrument display is the easiest I have removed, just 4 screws around the shroud and the whole lot just pulls out. If you look on the back of the instruments you'll see a alloy relay fixed with two screws, remove the screws and carefully place aside, throw relay as far as the eye can see, then fit screws back into the original fixing holes, this is most important as they are part of a continuity circuit and if you dont, the instruments won't work properly. HTH.
