(Home) Red diesel

is it safew to run my townie on red diesel clean stuff mind you ....does anyone or has anyone used it and if so was it ok ill look forward to hearing from you paul tierney

It would work fine; however in most cases it's illegal for road use in a Townie and if you get pulled & dipped (it happens A LOT) you risk losing your Townie, your liberty and a big wedge of dosh.

plus red has a little less lubricant so if you don't get caught, you could still trash you injection pump...

You'll also find that even if you only put one tank of 'red diesel' into your Townie, the dye would last alot longer, so even if you got dipped by the tax man long after you put red in, they would know you had used it, also Dave is right, the 'red' is more akin to the latest generation 'ULTRA LOW SULPHUR DIESEL' that you get at the pumps now, they have removed alot of sulphur compared to a few years ago, the sulphur acts a little like lead in old petrol, it lubricates fuel injection pump, valves etc, so it is a good idea to put one of the good quality diesel additives into your fuel occasionally now, to help combat wear from this lack of lubricant.HTH Rob.
