(Home) Cam belt and apologies

Just had the cam belt done on my lite ace 2.2td at a local garage here in bristol, after a lot of ringing around to find a mechanic intrested in doing it and one who didnt want to charge the earth,i had one quote for nearly £500.The guy charged me £140 and did it with no sharp intake of breath saying its a big job or the trouble with these imports is,blah, blah, blah.Seamed a genuine guy and said if i needed any thing else done bring it in.
Only problem i got now is he did'nt know how to turn the warning light on the dash,so any info would be much appreciated.
In my last write in i said about waving out to other townies, well blow me down, the very next day on my way to the garage, up the road comes a townie and a hand waving out at me,now was this a coinsidence or a reader of this web site ?
fleetcare,110 soundwell rd bristol.tel 01179 9569532.is the garage who did my belt.
sorry for jumping in the last time i wrote in,hope i get this one inthe right place this time.

There's a small switch somewhere under the dash, possibly under the brake fluid reservoir, you need to flick it to it's other position. Alternatively, it'll go out in 100kkm when the belt's next due...

Dave, thanks for putting us in the picture re your cambelt experiences etc. Yes, I have had some of that despair from so called "mechanics" regarding the cambelt, and other routine jobs, on our type of vehicle. In fact, in my opinion, it is one of the easier cambelts to fit and, when the slight inconvenience of removing the drivers seat & floor pan is done, the working area, accessibility etc is much better than many saloon cars with their cluttered engine bays. Garages do get, unfairly in many cases, a lot of criticism and it is encouraging that you have passed on the details of one of the better ones.
