(Home) Heater control display

Should the heater display be illuminated when lights are switched on?
If so how do you get acces to the bulb or is it fused?
If it is the fuse can anyone advise which fuse it is.
Thanks

Mine only lights up the lower have and is the climate control type. So same question, how do you get to the bulbs and does anyone know what size/watt/type they are?

Yes I had only one of the two bulbs working (climate control type, '91 Townace).
The bulbs are the tiny wedge base type that are used in the dashboard panel, cigar lighter, etc. Easy to buy, hard to fit. Just keep taking bits out of the dashboard (see elsewhere). I seem to recall I even loosened the heater control panel itself so I could twist it round a bit to get at the bulbholders. Smaller hand would have helped.

both bulbs blown - fiddliest job i've ever done to replace. followed same method as already stated. I didn't want to pull the panel out too far in case something came adrift or got broken.I found Top bulb slightly easier to replace than the bottom one. I am still not sure whether i've twisted the lower bulb holder back in sufficiently due to size of fingers but lighting now working. Bulbs obtained from Halfords. Now I want to replace bulbs for 2 rocker switches (front lamps and front control for rear air con). Has anyone done this?

Yes, you'll need tiny little wire ended bulbs, thread the wires into the cap as per the original. Toyota don't sell them, only switches. Maplin BT43 if I remember...

David,
Toyota DO sell the bulbs that illuminate the panel switches, they also go in the rear air con switch, 1 for the panel light & one for the a/c on light. The CD we have doesn't show the bulb, only the switch. The newer CD currently in use in the dealers shows the plastic based bulb & gives a spares number, beware though, they are around £5.50 each. The Totota dealer can look them up on their computer & may need to order them VOR for you. HTH Rob.

Thanks for the update, Rob. I know that they are still unavailable as a part in the US...
