(Home) Noise in sump, loose crankshaft pulley

Could anyone help with this problem.
Townie royal lounge 1990 2CT engine td. 55.000 miles.
I have fully synthetic oil.
When I rev the engine up to 2000 rpm and back to tickover I have a very slight rattle around sump area.
I have checked all the pulleys and belts.
Tried my method of a screwdriver to my ear on the bearings but it seems to be in the sump.
Is there a pressure relief valve or something similar in the sump or any other Ideas.
Thanks for any help
Phil

Phil,
Sounds just like my Liteace trouble. Yep! its definately in the sump, sounds like bearing trouble I thought. I could not find movement in the crankshaft pulley until I slackened the belts around it. Give it another check. Put a spanner on the nut to check for slackness. Get your finger in and feel if you can turn the washer.

Thanks very much Stephen.
I have not not checked that.
I will check that as the importer had all the belts changed before I had it. All part of the deal.
That was just over 3000 miles ago.
I will let you know.
Thanks again. Phil
