(Home) Rear-axle oil level

Am about to go on holiday in our Townie next week and have given it a check over to ease my mind.

On removing what I presume is the filler/level plug on the rear axle I found that the oil level is approx 3/4 inch down with the bus parked level. On other axles I,ve always found the oil should be level with the filler plug, am I right in assuming this with the Townie axle and if so what grade oil should I be topping-up with ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Press the back button of your browser, go to the bottom of the main BoK page & then post your message there, this is currently getting into the middle of someone elses line of questioning, thank you.

hi everyone
at 3-00pm yesterday 1-7-02 i had no idea that the townace exsisted. at 7-30pm i became the proud(surprised)owner of a 2.0ltr turbo diesel auto with o/d 4wd circa 1989. no handbook/manual of course. please tell me the correct sequence for engaging 4wd, function of idle up switch, same for door lock button, window lock button, what is reservoir located in drivers door shut.
i imagine that these queries are small potatoes to most townace owners but any help would be appreciated.
thank you james.

Spend a bit more time researching this site and townace.com, than you did your purchase and you will get your answers. If you need any more help follow the instructions from the wise man above and start your own thread.
