townie or liteace? year?

According to my records, there is no repair kit, or complete cylinder available in the aftermarket, but if you remove your cylinder, and take it to a decent motor factors, you might be lucky & they can cross reference any numbers on it. Failing that, the genuine Toyota number is, 04493-28060, if it is an 88-92 model. If it doesn't fall in these years, let me know the year & I'll look it up again. Regards Rob.

Steve first you have to remove the trim from around the speedomiter this is held in with two screws. then remove the speedo itself this held in by four screws release the wiring and speedo cable then the master cylinder is there right in front of you. Ive you need to replace it the lightace van one fits I put one in my townace

Goes hard on pumping? more likely to be servo or vacuum pump, I would've thought

The Toyota number is, 04493-28060, if it is an 88-92 model. I'm sure I read that some one found a parts listing for the UK liteace, outwardly looked the same tried it and it worked, but I can't find where. Cost?

Currently working on Toyota Masterace Surf. Having problems bleeding air out of braking system. Procedure currently adopted is
Bleeding order from furthest master cylinder to nearest. Brake pedal remains "spongey" and warning lights comes on when brake pedal is pumped!!! Help!!

Thanks

Warning light is probably doue to lack of fluid and/or vacuum. Start the engine! Have you bled the load sensing valve at the rear axle? And finally, ensure that the reservoir is kept topped up. best to remove the filter to see in...

thanks clive & david, it is a 91 model, forgot to mention, low fluid /handbrake light also comes on

- (#4000) john collier, 26 Jul 02

Low fluid light means low fluid. If you mean the pedal goes hard as in normal and was soft/spongy before pumping it replace the fluid and fill up to correct level. If not more info required, may be servo/vacuum as already mentioned.
