(Home) High power fog lamp bulbs

I have broken one of my High Powered Foglamp bulbs that I recently converted to, they use the standard bayonet base, but have a 55watt halogen top on them, I have had no problems since fitting them, the wiring & lenses seem able to cope OK. Due to breaking this one, I am going to put in an order with Guardian bulbs tomorrow, therefore if anyone would like me to order some for them, please E-MAIL me tonight, so that I can order tomorrow. The cost will be around £10.00 for the pair, plus a bit of P&P for me to post them to you, any interested parties let me know, as some of you had said you had struggled to find any stockists. Regards Rob.

I was unable to order the high power foglamp bulbs on Friday, I will do so on Monday, so if anyone else would like me to get a pair (or three if you want a spare) then please E-mail me over the weekend & I'll add you to the growing list. Regards Rob.

Have just bought a pair of the guardian bulbs (to replace my yellow buls as one had blown) from Derby Auto Electrical Services @£8.00 plus vat per pair - (Lucas couldn't supply and the idiot behind the counter at Halfords insisted that despite the 35w markings that it was a 21w bulb).

One question though as you have been using these bulbs for a while - how does it affect the "glass" of the fog lamp - seeing that it is plastic - are they prone to overheating / melting as the dealer had slight misgivings.

Had mine in six months or so, no problems with wiring or lamp lenses, if you look at the length of the Guardian 795 bulb, they are 3mm longer than the standard 382 bulb (The closest we can get to the 12v 35w standard bulb) so get only fractionally closer to the lens, I suspect those who have the yellow inserts in their type of lamp may have a problem as the inserts are closer to the bulb than the lens, can't comment on that as mine had the clear lenses with yellow bulbs originally. Just goes to show you that Halfords (or should they be renamed Halfwits) haven't got a clue, why go there????? Regards Rob.

Went to Halfords first as I was shopping @ Toys r Us next door - got much better service there.

Rob,

I will still take the pair of bulbs that I contacted you about but must mention the tremendous service I have just received from my local autobulb specialist. They are McCroft Lighting of Derby 01332 299100.

I rang them on Friday - they didn't recognise the bulb but would ring around. They rang me back a short while later - will be in on Monday and where do they deliver them.

Thats right deliver them.

Monday afternoon sure enough they arrived with two NARVA 795 bulbs 12.8v 50w on a BA15s cap - thats the bayonet cap to you and me. Bulbs are installed and work a treat. - can't dazzle oncoming idiots though but at least provide a greater depth of field.

Total cost of this delightful service £4.75 plus VAT per bulb.

I have had a request from a user of this board, for another pair of the high power fog lamp bulbs that I was supplying around this time last year. To recap, they are a 12v 55w halogen fitting, on the same bayonet base as the standard 35w tungsten bulbs that are fitted in the front fog/driving lamps of Townaces & some derivatives. They have several other applications as well. If I can move another eight at least of these, then it is worth me ordering them in multiples of 10. Have a look at my site for a piccie of them. If you are interested then e-mail me direct so I can collate numbers.
